Missional Team Leaders

Carl and Maureen Clayton

We are Carl and Maureen Clayton, the Missional Team Leaders for Cru at Purdue.  We were both impacted by the CRU movements on our campuses during our freshmen years.  We met older students who reached out to us and explained how we could know God personally.  We grew by being involved in small groups, going to conferences, and summer mission trips.
And here we are —- 37 years later!   We both have teaching degrees —- but are so thankful for the privilege of being used in college student’s lives.

Caleb and Jenny Hoover We were both born and raised in the Chicago Suburbs. In fact, we grew up 25 minutes away from each other but didn't meet until college. We started dating as sophomores at Illinois State University. We developed a passion for ministry and each felt God calling us to serve Him in full time ministry with Cru. This will be our 5th year on staff. We LOVE being parents to our sweet daughter Lily who is the biggest blessing ever. We love Netflix marathons, games, food, and spending time with friends. Caleb loves all things sports-related especially the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. Caleb got his degree in History education and loves American History especially the Revolutionary War. Unknown fact: I(Caleb) also love musicals and singing in general...just ask my wife. Jenny loves reading anything by Francine Rivers, Disneyworld and dance parties. If not called to staff she would probably be teaching preschool as she has a passion for early childhood education. Also, we do a sweet duet of "Love is an Open Door." caleb.hoover@cru.org jenny.hoover@cru.org

We both enjoy being outdoors and love to read! Neil is an outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, shooting, hiking, and scuba diving. Erin likes to ride her road bike and cook/eat yummy food

Ellyn Clayton-  Earhart and Wiley Women

I (David) am the son of Maureen and Carl Clayton, so I’ve been around this Cru thing for awhile.  I graduated from Purdue and I interned for two years here at Purdue, then married my beautiful wife Ellyn.  This is our first year on staff with Cru and we are pumped to see what God does on campus.  I (David) really enjoy all things sports, especially basketball.  I (Ellyn) enjoy having a good conversation with some coffee.

Ethan Hall- Earhart, Harrison, First Street, and Hillenbrand men

Coming into college, Ethan had little direction about how he wanted to invest his life. While he studied at Purdue, men from Cru challenged him to daily invest his life for God’s glory and not live for himself. After completing a degree in agriculture Ethan joined staff with Cru to invest the best hours of his day teaching students how to be a disciples of Jesus. Ethan enjoys biking, movies, and spending time with friends.

Melissa Housemeyer – Meredith, Harrison, McCutcheon, Earhart women

I am from a very small town, but fell in love with being around lots of people when I came to Purdue as a student.  I met some friends through Cru, learned that knowing God was more significant than I had ever dreamed, and loved talking to others about it.  Because my life was changed significantly during college, I wanted to keep being a part of seeing that happen for other students.  So here I am!  My wonderful husband, who I met in college, serves here with Bridges International.

I love laughing, coffee, stories, and donuts. I also love to win the love of others by baking sweets for them… Because doesn’t everybody love a good chocolate chip cookie?

Hi! My name is Emma Zerfas! This will be my seventh year on staff with Cru. My husband and I have served in two main capacities: campus ministry and as recordists with the JESUS Film Project. In 2010 I graduated from Purdue with a degree in Mathematics Education, so it’s fun to be at Purdue with my Boilermaker roots. Any time someone asks me to explain myself in a short bio I feel like every thought I’ve ever had about anything leaves my head and I don’t know what to say. So here are some random things about me… My five strengths from StrengthsFinders are Learner, Relator, Intellection, Connectedness, and Individualization. I am a collector of skills (like, I like to be adequate at a lot of things). My current skill I am undertaking is crocheting. My husband Ryan and I dream of owning a cat named the Great Bandito. I am the middle daughter between two brothers who also have fiery red hair, but despite common assumption, our hair color comes from being German, not Irish. I feel that gives me a special connection to our Cru partnership in Berlin. Pink is a color I’ve finely come around on in my 28 years of life, and I like making lists.
